Great White Predation – 7 Gill Cowshark-Spotted Gullyshark– seal dive
In Gansbaai the Great White shark is seen at the surface, a spectacular sight. In June and July - Sardine Run tim - an even more spectacular event is to be seen in False Bay- Great White sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) attacking Cape Fur Seals and launching themselves completely clear of the water. With a daily 85% success rate at seeing the Great Whites acheiving these iuncredible leaps, this is something you have to see ! Whilst at sea, we also offer the possibility of entering the cage to view the Great Whites underwater.
The Great White predation is a morning event so we are also offering afternoon scuba dives. Day one will be a 10 metre dive with Broadnose Seven Gill Cowshark ( Notorynchus cepedianus) during which dive we also have the possibility of seeing Spotted Gully Shark (Triakis megalopterus), Puffadder shyshark (Haploblepharus edwardsii), Pyjama (or Striped) Catshark (Poroderma africanum), Dark Shyshark (Haploblepharus pictus) and the Leopard Catshark (Poroderma pantherinum).
The programme begins with you flying to Cape Town either after your 6 days at Port St Johns or after you have completed the two days of baited dives at Aliwal Shoal. You will be met at Cape Town airport and transported to Simonstown. You will stay in Simontown on a Bed & Breakfast basis. The accomadation is very close to a number of top class restaurants so we are leaving you the option of choosing your own type of cuisine.

Day 1 You arrive from Durban
Day 2 Morning Predation viewing of Great White sharks with the option of also seeing the Whites from the surface cage. Afternoon you will dive with the Broadnose Seven Gill Cowshark ( Notorynchus cepedianus) and, hopefully, the various Shysharks and Catsharks.
Day 3 Morning again Great White predation and optional cage dive followed in the afternoon by a dive with the incredible Cape Fur Seals (Arctocephalus pusillus)
Day 4 Today we have planned a land trip visiting Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsular Reserve. We have two reasons for having this arrangement. Firstly, of course, it would be a real shame to miss seeing these beautiful areas. Equally important, the Cape waters can be unpredictable. With a planned day on land, if one of our dive days has difficult sea conditions, we will do our land tour on that day leaving us Day 4 to enable us to hopefuly do all the planned dives.
